Its Coming!

Over the last few days, everything to do with PikFolio has seemed to come together nicely. The select a template of the user control panel is working along with about 95% of the site.

Now the only main part left to do is the billing system (the invite system is already working!) and the site will be ready to go into alpha ready for beta testing (and you guys) at the beginning of December.

I am also going to create some teaser and how to videos that will be on the site in a week or two, just to give you an idea of what PikFolio will be able to do.

Making progress

Although I was busy at the weekend I did manage to get a fair bit done on the new look dashboard and admin panel.

I have also been workin on planning out how the skin/theme selection and editor section will work. It is looking increasingly likely that the initial release of PikFolio will allow the user to edit the CSS of their selected theme as well as uploading a custom logo and selecting the type of gallery you would like your site to use. Actually editing the HTML structure of the theme will not be available from the start but it will hopefully happen in the future.

There are a lot of other features that I’ve been working on which I hope will make even the initial beta release of PikFolio pretty nifty.

My target is to get the beta release ready for Christmas, but this is totally work permitting. I already have a few people with web and photography backgrounds to alpha test the system but I am still looking for people to beta test it. If you would like to do this, please stick your email in the box on the homepage!

First Feature Preview

I’ve decided to give you a few previews of some of the features that are already built into PikFolio!

- Track your stats with analytics: Each account will have the option to add their analytics ID so that you can track how many people are viewing your site, where they have come from and much much more.

- Add galleries and pages with minimal effort: You can add new galleries and web pages to your site with the click of a mouse. No HTML required.

- No more tedious uploads: There’s no need to find and upload all your images as you have to with other sites. You can drag and drop all your images at once from your desktop, a folder or wherever!

Definitive to do list

Last night I went through the whole PikFolio app as it is at the moment and I wrote a list of everything I would like to fix or implement before the site is launched in beta.

I’ll not post the things up yet as there is 1 side of A4 paper. When I get these done I’ll be able to post a full feature list for you to have a look at.

Hopefully there will be some teaser videos in the next week or two, I’ll get them up on the main site.

I was also playing with the look of this blog and I managed to spoil it! So there is some work to do there.
